1949 Newspaper Headlines

Are you wondering what happened in the year 1949? What caught the interest of readers all over the world? Find out with our 1949 newspaper articles which document all the most shocking stories from the time. This was the year that Apartheid began in South Africa, paving the way for a system of institutionalized racial segregation that would be in place for almost 50 years.

Europe began to prosper finally, after years of misery in the aftermath of World War II. Consumer society made everything bigger and better, and products and services were introduced which would give way to the consumer and pop culture society of the next decade. WRONG EDITION RECEIVED! I ordered a particular day's newspaper, and they sent me a "FINAL - SPORTS EXTRA" edition instead of the main edition. I had no idea they had more than one edition of that day's newspaper. I sent them a picture of the edition I wanted. Still no luck. And they won't refund my money unless I pay for shipping both ways.

It is amazing to me that you can obtain a copy of a leading newspaper like the New York Times dated on your birthday when you are over 81 years old. The paper was in very good condition and could be read with little difficulty.

I paid roughly $70 for this item and the paper came crinkled in the "protective box" I purchased. The box is way oversized so during shipping the paper loose in the box. The box size is also awkward for the newspaper. Overall I won't be purchasing another paper from this website. It is a real newspaper though so that's why I gave 2 stars

They didn't have the paper that I ordered. Why was it offered if it wasn't available!
