About this book

It’s 1905 in Edwardian Britain. It’s seven years before the sinking of the Titanic. It’s almost a decade before the start of The First World War. But at Ashton Gate, Bristol, thousands of Bristol City fans assemble to sing songs, cheer for their team and enjoy the match. Some things change, and some don’t.

This book charts the history of Bristol City, through match reports written by sports journalists of the day. It starts with a 1-0 home victory against Arsenal, in an FA Cup first round replay from 1905. From there, Robins fans can enjoy a 120-year journey, through all of City’s ups and downs, promotions and relegations, cup runs and derby days.
