About this book

The Suffragette newspaper book begins in 1906 with the Women’s Social and Political Union’s appearance at 10 Downing Street, and culminates on 15th December 1918 when British women vote for the first time. 

Using newspaper headlines exactly as they appeared at the time, this book provides an extensive timeline of the events leading to the Representation of the People Act, brought about by women’s suffrage movements of the decade.

Archivist insight: We reproduce these newspaper articles from scan archives. In some cases, there’ll be blemishes and the reproduction quality might not be as clear or precise as it was in the original paper.
