This coffee-table book features over 90 pages of authentic Washington Post newspaper reports about The History of the 1940's. It comes with a choice of covers and the option to have the recipient’s name printed on the cover for free.
Each page of this book is filled with front covers from the Washington Post covering the major events of the 1940s.
The main event that covered the front pages across the 1940s was World War Two. A significant event from an American perspective was the attack on Pearl Harbour on 7th December 1941. However, even after the end of World War Two, the remaining tensions between the Western Bloc and the Soviet Union would ultimately lead to the beginning of the Cold War.
The 1940s also saw the unprecedented third term of Franklin D. Roosevelt, as well as his unfortunate and untimely death whilst still in office. Perhaps the most shocking death of the decade was of Mahatma Gandhi, assassinated at age 78 by a right-wing Hindu nationalist.
