About this book

Famous for their “Moneyball” approach to baseball, the Oakland Athletics are in the top three teams in the MLB in terms of World Series titles won. They were successful from the very beginning, winning three titles in four years between 1910 and 1913 while the team was in Philadelphia. No doubt this was helped by its legendary $100,000 Infield! The team won five titles in Philadelphia, followed by an unlucky thirteen years in Kansas. Oakland Athletics moved to Oakland in 1968, achieving three consecutive World Series titles from 1973 to 1975. They haven’t returned to the World Series since 1990 when they won their ninth title.

This book starts in 1910, when the team achieved their first World Series title, and continues through decades of articles originally reported in the Los Angeles Times.
