About this book

It’s 18th April 1923, and the brand new Yankee Stadium is packed with 74,200 fans clad in suits, neckties and fedoras. They’ve come to see the Yankees’ season opener against the Red Sox. Ruth steps up first, and hits the inevitable home run. The fans rejoice, and this new stadium feels like home already.

The history of the Yankees is, to no small extent, the history of baseball over the past century. Twenty-seven World Series titles, 40 American League pennants – with legendary names like Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig and Joe DiMaggio. This book takes Yankees fans on a tour through that illustrious history, through authentic newspaper articles from the New York Daily News.

Going all the way back to 1921, fans will see the legend of the Yankees unfolding, year by year, right up to recent seasons. The book features press articles exactly as they were written by the reporters who witnessed every home run with their own eyes.
