Each page of this book is filled with front covers from the Los Angeles Times covering the major events of the 1950s.
The Korean war started at the beginning of this decade, and therefore features heavily in the coverage, leading to the eventual truce in July 1953. In this 1950s Decade Book, there are reports of the Cold War and the death of Stalin in March 1953, as well as the rising Cuban tensions and the Suez crisis.
This book also covers the coronation of the UK’s longest-reigning monarch, Queen Elizabeth II. There are also articles about the creation of the H Bomb, and the Russians launching a satellite to orbit the Earth, with a second with a dog on board.
