About this book

The Detroit Tigers are the oldest one-name, one-city baseball franchise in the American League today, and were founded back in 1901. The team lost three straight World Series in 1907 to 1909, but their home from 1912 to 1999, Tiger Stadium, saw four World Series titles. Their first was a 4-2 victory over the Chicago Cubs, led by MVP Hammerin’ Hank Greenberg, and their last, the 1984 victory over the Padres following a best-ever 104-win season. The Tigers have reached the postseason five times in the last 12 years, losing two World Series in the process, and their most recent loss being to the Giants in 2012.

This book celebrates Tigers’ biggest games and star players as they were reported in the news at the time they happened, with genuine articles from the Washington Post.
