A memorable Boston Red Sox gift for any fan, whether for a special occasion or to add to their collection. This baseball book features over 150 pages of authentic Washington Post newspaper reports about the history of baseball, dating back to 1903. It comes with a choice of covers and the option to have the recipient’s name printed on the cover for free.
The Red Sox were blessed with two of the greatest baseball players of all time, Tris Speaker and Babe Ruth, leading them to win five World Series titles between the inaugural championship in 1903 and 1918. No team had won five World Series at that point, and it wasn’t until 1937 that a team won more. This was achieved by the New York Yankees, the beneficiaries of the sale of Babe Ruth in 1920.
The Red Sox went from winning four World Series titles in seven seasons to 86 years without a championship and losing four World Series titles in this time. The team would see World Series victories in 2004, 2007, 2013, and 2018 with no other team winning more in the 21st century.
On the back of a disappointing couple of years without a postseason, the 2021 MLB season saw a resurgent 92-win Sox team make it all the way to the American League Championship Series yet again.
Relive these iconic moments through the Washington Post's sports pages, as they appeared at the time.
