The Washington Senators joined the Major Leagues as an expansion team in 1961, facing some incredible losses at the start of their involvement. They lost over 100 games in each of their four seasons and recorded losing seasons in ten of their eleven seasons in the capital. The Senators became the Rangers when the franchise moved to Texas in 1971, but life still started out hard! Fans would have to wait until the 1990s before the team saw any real success. The greatest period in Ranger’s history came in the 2010 and 2011 seasons when the team reached two consecutive World Series.
Filled with Austin American-Statesman and Times Record News coverage starting with 1972, this book recounts the history of the team through the words of the reporters who witnessed the games at the time.
