11th January 1970. The Chiefs are about to represent the AFL at Super Bowl IV. The Southern University Band plays to 80,000 fans at the Tulane Stadium, New Orleans. A bizarre pre-game balloon race ends with the Vikings’ balloon careering into the crowd as fans run for safety. It’s been quite a day, and the game hasn’t even started yet.
That day would end in glory for the Chiefs, as they shocked the Vikings to take their first Super Bowl win. It would be over 50 years until the Chiefs could repeat that feat, and there were plenty of adventures along the way.
