It’s the summer of 1978, and the pubs of Aberdeen are abuzz with talk of their club’s new manager. He’s only 36 – not much older than the players. But he worked wonders at St Mirren, and he’s clearly got an eye for a good youngster. Let’s give this Alex Ferguson bloke a chance and see how he does.
THIS book takes Dons fans back in time, through authentic newspaper articles going all the way back to 1926. It has almost a century of Aberdeen history to enjoy – not least the Ferguson era that included three league titles, four Scottish Cups, a Scottish League Cup and two European triumphs.
Reporters of the time give a Beach End view of the most legendary matches played at Pittodrie, going back long before it became the UK’s first all-seater stadium. And away reports come from all around Scotland and Europe, including a certain match in Gothenburg in 1983.
