About this book

July 2019, and players’ shadows are lengthening over Lord’s in the evening sun. It’s the final over, and as Ben Stokes dives for the ground, a ball thrown from the deep accidentally clips his outstretched bat, gaining him an accidental six. He’s forced a super over. It’s an outrageous moment of good fortune – and one that’ll see England to their first Cricket World Cup victory.

This is the story of international cricket, told in newspaper articles spanning over a century.

Beginning in 1905, fans can  travel back through cricketing history, era by era – the controversial bodyline series in 1932-33, England’s first Ashes win in 20 years in ‘53, Australian dominance, Botham’s Ashes, the dawn of T20, and that 2019 World Cup. Along the way you’ll revisit the test matches won, Ashes contested and World Cups battled through – with plenty of appearances from India, the West Indies, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and of course Australia along the way.
