About this book

Commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Normandy with this WW2 D-Day Landings Book. It features a comprehensive collection of newspaper articles, which cover the major events from the D-Day Landings on 6th June 1944 through to the Parisian’s first day of freedom on 27th August 1944.

The Battle of Normandy, otherwise known as Operation Overload, was the Allied invasion of German-occupied Western Europe during the Second World War. It was the first major breakthrough that led the Allies on the road to victory and the eventual fall of the Nazi regime.

Read about General De Gaulle’s return to Bayeux, the first important French town to be freed and many articles on the Red Army’s Summer Offensive which saw vast regions of Eastern Europe taken from the Nazis in a matter of days.

Archivist insight: We reproduce these newspaper articles from scan archives. In some cases, there’ll be blemishes and the reproduction quality might not be as clear or precise as it was in the original paper.
