This coffee-table book features over 160 pages of authentic Daily Mirror newspaper reports about The History of Eurovision. It comes with a choice of covers and the option to have the recipient’s name printed on the cover for free.

About this book

A conductor dressed as Napoleon bows his bicorn hat to the cameras. Agnetha and Frida bounce on to the stage clad in diamante, velour, sequins and huge smiles. As they bop through Waterloo, ABBA’s future as pop royalty – and the fate of Eurovision 1974 as one of the most iconic in the contest’s history – are sealed.

This book takes you back through Eurovision song contests gone by, with newspaper articles from the Mirror chronicling the hits and ‘nuls points’ misses from 1959 to 2024.

Coverage starts in 1959 with Teddy Scholten’s ‘Een beetje’ securing victory for the Netherlands. You’ll relive some of the most iconic performances – ABBA in 1974, Lordi bringing the heavy metal in 2006, Conchita Wurst’s Rise Like a Phoenix in 2014, and Loreen’s two wins for Sweden. And you’ll glimpse broader history along the way, with events like the rise of bloc voting in the 2000s, and Ukraine’s win in 2022.

Archivist insight: We reproduce these newspaper articles from scan archives. In some cases, there’ll be blemishes and the reproduction quality might not be as clear or precise as it was in the original paper.
